Dan Grade Application Form

Applications for the Dan Grading on Sunday (date to be confirmed) 2022 should be made no later than 3 weeks prior to grading date. Grading will be held at 1230 at Loanhead Leisure Centre (Please arrive at 1200). The 2022 Dan Grade Syllabus available below will apply.

    If you are declaring a disability below, please ensure your coach is aware and has made contact with Dan Grade Secretary. A minimum period of 12 months notice is desired to allow assessment of syllabus and suitability for each applicant.

    Dan Grade Criteria

    • 20 Attendance Stamps per Grade (Given at SKF recognised events*) PLEASE NOTE - For 2022 only - Minimum of 10 stamps required. For first grading of May 2023, 15 stamps will be required and thereafter a return to 20.
    • Up to Date SKF Licence
    • Held Rank of 1st Kyu for 6 months (For 1st Dan applicants)
    • Application approved by Instructor
    • 2nd Dan Minimum age 16 years
    • 3rd Dan Minimum age 21 years
    • 4th Dan and above awarded for service to SKF, continuing teaching and/or training and technical ability (assessed at Black Belt Technical Courses).
    • Minimum wait between Dan Grades in years = Grade (i.e. 2 years for 2nd Dan, 3 years for 3rd Dan etc).
    • *Members over 40 years of age can also acquire stamps for assisting at SKF recognised events
